Soldering tip, tuning iron The Weller Magnastat system works through a ferromagnetic sensing device that changes its properties when specific temperatures are reached. This allows it to either attracts or repels a permanent magnet which operates a switch. In this way the power to the heating element can be quickly turned on or off to either provide extra current for soldering or reduce the current when idle. Different preselected tip temperatures are available available to allow different types of soldering. Selection of working temperature is achieved by simply changing the 'temperature sensing' soldering tip.
